There is enough midsole and outsole to protect the feet even on techy trail. Though it doesn’t have a rock plate, the midsole felt protective and supportive enough on rocky l terrain. Just short of being a racing flat, the Torrent’s geometry and lightweight build lend it to pushing the pace no matter the terrain. There’s enough squish for comfy landings and plenty of zip for powerful take-offs without the weight. The Profly midsole makes for a springy toe-off, giving this shoe a zippier feel than other Hoka counterparts. The Torrent feels different from many Hoka models, with minimal cushioning and stiffer midsole that makes for a springy, speedy feel underfoot.Ī 26mm stack height and 5mm drop make this shoe born to shred the single-track. The Torrent 2 is a light and nimble single-track crusher with just enough cushion to go the distance without sacrificing weight or stability. Sometimes sequels can meaningfully improve on the original, and the Hoka Torrent 2 is more Godfather II than Attack of the Clones. This is a Hoka for people who haven’t always been fans of Hoka’s maximalist cushioning and feel. Weight: Women’s sample – 15.2 oz Men’s – 1lb. Get access to everything we publish when you
